Turbo Vs. G.O.D.
Online there's a music show highlighting today's dance music hot stars and singers. The feature selection of the show is a head-to-head singing/performing competition between Turbo and G.O.D. -- who will have the number one song?
Turbo performs their single CyberLover [ASX] on stage with the help of a set of bank dancers. They dance well, but I'm thinking they must be lip-synching. There's no way you can jump around that much and still sing.
Following Turbo is a performance of Starian by Duke. I find the overall effect of this performance much more tolerable than the video [ASF] for the song with its almost nausea-inducing special effects. This is a rock-rave song that probably sounds best in a crowded club.
Then it's time for a dance lesson (based on Goofy's moves in Shock). There's not a chance in the world of me learning a dance step from that little blue creature. Practice up, because next in line is Goofy's live performance of the song. This song does have a nice dance beat if you've got the moves.
The next dance tune is Tears by So Chan Hwee. I haven't heard anything else off her CD yet, but she does give a good live performance. And that red dress is pretty nice, especially given all the white suits for which pop stars apparently have an affinity.
The eurodance hit Aesoo [ASX] by G.O.D. is vying for the top spot on the charts. For this performance, G.O.D. and its backdancers have donned black suits. It's a likable song, but sometimes it's difficult to tell the stars apart. They dress alike, wear their bleached hair in the same styles, and surround themselves with clone dancers.
The new four-girl group Chakra, produced by a group of six including Country Kko Kko's Lee Sang Min and Diva's Chae Rina, wear hot outfits as they perform Han [ASX]. It's nice to see some bright color on stage for a change. This song has been described as "techno-trance influence by the traditional music of the Goa region of India." Techno-trance . . .huh?
Space A puts on a dynamic performance with their Sexyhan Namja [ASX]. I like the female vocal interludes in this song much more than the real dance-beat choruses. I think the dancing really detracts from the performance because frankly, the lead singer isn't as smooth as she could be.
One of the only songs on the show that isn't pure dance is Lim Chang Jung's Nahae Yuneen [ASX]. After forty minutes of that technobeat, this song came as a pleasant change of pace. Lim Chang Jung is really quite charming on stage.
To learn who wins the top spot, Turbo or G.O.D., you'll have to watch to the show . . .
