Thoughts on the charts: FREE MP3 &
RealAudio Downloads
I find it funny that Lee Junghyun is providing her own competition at the moment. Based on broadcasts and the number of record sales in South Korea, it looks like her Baggwuh (Change It) [ASX] and Wah [RealAudio] are going head to head. Both songs are off her technodance Let's Go To My Star album (Wah was released first).
S.E.S. and Fin.K.L. are still duking it out. I can't believe people are still buying S.E.S.'s Love [RealAudio], and constantly requesting the Love video [RealVideo], given that it's Twilight Zone [RealAudio] in the top ten.
Fin.K.L's current hit, White [MP3], has kind of grown on me, although that Feliz Navidad beginning is too funny. I thought I was imagining it at first, but no1x Now I expect Jose Feliciano to start singing at any moment. This song won't bump Ruby [RealAudio] off from its spot as my favorite Fin.K.L. song, but it's an okay piece.
I saw a music review last week that completely disrespected the new G.O.D. album. (As a side note, I just discovered that G.O.D. stands for "Groove Over Dose." Who thinks up these names?) I'm not saying Dance All Night [MP3] is the best song to hit the airwaves, but the group's current single, Saranghae Geurigo Giyukhae (Love and Remember) [RealAudio] has a nice melody. I know I already commented on the music video [RealVideo] for this song elsewhere, but it bears repeating that I thought the little boy in it was sweet--a pleasant change from the gun-toting gangsters populating ever other video on the tube.
Really crashing the charts in South Korea right now is the group Sky. The lead singer for this group is Choi Jin Young. Young Won [ASX] is their top ten hit, off the debut album Final Fantasy/The Best Is Yet to Come, but I'll be glad when it is displaced by Eonjehnah Hangjang Nae Kyeoteh [RealAudio] or another song with pretty lyrics.
Sungsook [RealAudio] by SpaceA has finally been knocked off the charts, probably by the group's own single Sexy-han Namja [ASX]. I like this song mostly because I can't handle track after track of techno pounding on my head. This is a little softer than earlier SpaceA songs.
I'm noticing that Kim Hyun Sung is climbing a bit higher with Ihaehalggae [ASX]. The opening measures to this song are so subtle I keep having to turn the volume up on my speakers. I confess, I picked this CD up simply because I liked the cover picture and the title. This third album is called Solitude, and I think this song conveys that image fairly well.
