Dating Questions

Bite your tongue before asking one of these needy questions after a first date.
A less-threatening attitude increases the odds of a second date.

Are you seeing anyone else?
Don't pressure a first date into exclusivity. It's acceptable and normal to be dating other people. If one of you lies when answering, it could prevent true feelings from developing.

Do you want to spend more time with me?
This needy and demanding question pushes your date into a relationship at an unnaturally early stage.

Did you have a good time?
This question clearly demonstrates your insecurity and eagerness to please your date. You're fishing to see if there will be a next time.

What are you doing next weekend?
This question is too blunt and you might not like the answer. Is your date a loser, sitting in front of a TV set every night? Alternatively, are you now intimidated, and rejected, by an extremely active social calendar?

Would you like to get together again?
This is the ultimate question to ask if you want to see how fast your date can run - much too aggressive and pushy.

Make positive, simple, non-threatening statements:

  • "I had a really good time"
  • "I really enjoyed the restaurant . . . the concert . . . the movie . . ."
  • Spend the evening discovering your date's interests. You both enjoy jazz and you're going to a jazz festival next weekend? That's the natural time to ask your date join you.
  • Be honest - let your date get to know the real you, not an adopted persona.
  • Live for the moment, not the future.
