Video & Live Performance Downloads
Sometimes when I really like a song on the radio, I go out of my way to avoid seeing the music video for it. I like to imagine my own scenery to the music, and sometimes a group's interpretation of a song can ruin it for me. Case in point: CLON's Love and Soul [RealVideo]. I really liked that song when it came out. Then I saw the video.
I think the same may hold true for Wa [RealVideo] performed by Lee Jung Hyun. This is her debut single, and it's doing well in the charts, but this space-age effect video is really strange. JoPD's Fever [RealVideo] strikes me the same way. I think JoPD has done some great things with his music and I admire his indviduality, but his video all but gives me seizures.
On the other hand, some videos seem to enhance the music. Kim Jang Hoon's ballad Seulpeun Sunmool [RealVideo] is really fleshed out in the video, and quite enjoyable. I can say the same for Jo Sung Mo's For Your Soul [RealVideo]. This movie is practically an epic, but it's a good show. I also really like the video for Durian's I'm Still Loving You [RealVideo]. I think it's interesting to see how they interpreted a song meant to sound like traditional Chinese music.
Often I skip the music videos completely and just try to watch live performances on some of the television variety shows. For instance, I think the live performance by Kim Kwang Suk [RealVideo] is really worth watching. He sounds like Elvis1x Park Ki Young, Lee Sang Woo and Byun Jin Sub also gave a very entertaining live performance [RealVideo] recently. Kim Kyung Ho [RealVideo], who is out promoting his fourth album, For 2000 AD, can be seen live, as can Ahn Chi Hwan [RealVideo]. Ahn Chi Hwan is on his sixth album now (entitled I Believe). However, one of the best live performances I've seen is the collaboration between Ria, Kim Sang Hui, Kim Sang Hoon, and the Yoon Do Hyun band. I think their live performance [RealVideo] is just really neat and moving.
If you've got a slow modem connection, you probably don't like streaming videos, and you probably have trouble downloading 70MB MPEGs. For your viewing pleasure, here are some video samples, all about 1-3 MB. You can watch a good chunk of Position's Blue Day [MPEG], SpaceA's Maturity (Sungsook) [MPEG], Lee Byung Hun's Tears [MPEG], Y2K's Deep Sorrow [MPEG], Lee Soo Young's I Believe [MPEG], or Durian's I'm Still Loving You [MPEG]. Of these, I think Lee Soo Young's is the most touching, Durian's the cutest, and SpaceA's the weirdest.
