I'm often surprised by some of the songs that seem to hang out on the charts and never leave. For all the attention some of the young, hot groups seem to attract, their hit releases seem to climb and fall with alacrity. For instance, H.O.T.'s I-yah1x [RealAudio] is suddenly nowhere to be found, having been replaced in a fairly rapid fashion by the group's new single, Tooji [ASX]. I'll be curious to see how long the Jekkies hold on to the number one spot with Yaegam [ASX]. Having said all this, I'm left wondering -- how is that Baby Vox's Killer [ASX] is still on top? It was released ages ago, but someone must be listening to it still.

I'm always pleased to see different artists hit the charts. The techno-edged Wah (Come to Me) [RealAudio] by Lee Jung-Hyun recently appeared on my radio. I was expecting a slightly different sound based on the title, but based on airplay, it seems pretty popular. Also new to my ears is Iboda Duh Jotul Shun Uhtjyo (It Couldn't Be Better) by Yu Ri Sang Ja. This song from the group's third album (Be Happy) is a good song with which to improve one's mood.

Baek Ji-Young has appeared on the charts recently with her techno-pop hit Boodam [ASX]. If you're wondering about her and her music, you can watch an interview [RealVideo] with her online. I recently caught an interview with The S#arp [RealVideo] on KBS as well. Their hit Tell Me, Tell Me [ASX] is holding strong this week. The music video [RealVideo] for this song is also available right now.

Kim Jang-Hoon is doing well with his Seulpeun Sunmool (Sad Present) [RealAudio]. He is well known for his ballads, and this song follows this tradition. Jo Sung Mo's Spanish-sounding Seulpeun Younghon Shik (For Your Soul) [ASX] is one of my favorite ballads this season, and I'm glad to see it hanging around at the top. Another ballad that has just popped up is To My Bride [RealAudio] by Crystal Box. I've never heard anything by this duo before, but I think this is a good debut song.

The jury is still out as to whether Durian's remake of I'm Still Loving You [RealAudio] is as good as the Teresa Teng original Tian Mi Mi (Sweet Secret) [RealAudio]. I give them both good marks (although I'll admit the original has a more pristine sound). For some reason, Durian's version reminds me of Park Ji Yoon's current hit, Ahmugutdo Mollayo (I Don't Know) [RealAudio]. This song is off her third album The Age Ain't Nothing But a Number.

The two CDs that are getting a lot of play in my computer these days are Eve 2 and Position 4. The first single released by Eve, aptly named Eve (Don't Say Goodbye) [ASX], still keeps me entertained. When I think I've heard enough Eve for the day, I spin Position, whose first single, Blue Day [RealAudio] just climbed into the charts.
