Sechs Kies last release--only on the Internet
Fans of the recently disbanded Sechs Kies can listen to one last release thanks to Internet technology: the group released their final song Thanks [ASX] via the Internet. As a song, it's not all that exciting, but the sentiment expressed is nice.
The duo Durian is celebrating the release of their second album. You might remember the big hit off Durian 1, I'm Still Loving You [RealAudio]. This song was a remake of the more famous Chem Mil Mil [MP3] by Teresa Teng, and it remained more or less true to the original piece from Hong Kong. It's too soon to predict whether Durian will have a runaway hit on this CD, but Byul (Star) [RealAudio] is a good candidate. It starts out with a James Bond sort of groove, then goes into a Mandarin-sounding dance beat. Loving You [RealAudio] is more of a Baby Vox song, nice and light.
Promotion companies are already gambling on the future popularity of the new girl group, TINY. Lead singer Suh Hwee, backup singer Boram and rapper Janet comprise TINY. All three girls are at university now, which makes me wonder how they will be able to fulfill their new modeling contract with Starcamp. The first single off the debut album First of All TrINitY is Mweh (What) [MP3], a dance type song, but apparently the girls will be prized for their looks more than their singing.
R&B duo As One recently released a double-album to mark the 100,000th sale of their debut album Day by Day. Day by Day [MPEG], a sultry R&B tune, obviously has proven itself in the pop music market. Very similar in nature is As One's Destiny's Desire [MP3] from that same album. Proving that they are willing to test out more than one style of music, this same album also includes a few (less successful) dance hits. More pop and less soul is their song Sarang+ (Love+) [MP3], a piece so light it almost escapes the effects of gravity.
Finally, Lee Jung Hyun's new song, Joolae [MP3] is scheduled to hit the airwaves any day now. This is good timing for Lee, as her current single, Nuh [RealAudio] is still holding the number one spot on the music charts. Lee should anticipate success with her new song as well--it is already known for its Seo Taiji-style raps and should have no trouble hitting number one.
