from LIFESTYLES:
If The Tea Is Green Drink It

New York is a wonderful place to live. You will never get bored with all the types of restaurants that are here. My favorite restaurant is a Japanese restaurant located in Lower Manhattan, smack in the middle of the Financial District--a few short blocks away from The World Trade Center. On every visit I order the same thing: a noodle soup concoction with vegetables served in very large bowls. We washed it all down with green tea.

The owner likes me so one day he gave me a box of green tea to take home. He said that he noticed that I always drank green tea and started to tell me how healthy it was.
I just figured he was being nice and wanted to make sure that we kept coming back. No need for him to worry about that.

When I got home that night I read the tea box which had a long list of reasons that green tea is good for the body. It's not like I'm a trusting soul, so I decided that I would do a little green tea research on my own.

As it happens, tea is the second most popular drink in the world--the most popular is of course water. And green tea in particular, is very beneficial to our health. It can help with everything from cancer to tooth decay. Green tea has powerful antioxidants in it called catechins. All kinds of tea has catechins in it, but green tea has ten times more than any other type. Green tea can help fight infection, heart disease, and arthritis. And the best part is that you can't gain weight by drinking it. In fact, if you drink the recommended five cups a day, it will help fill you up.

I'm not saying that green tea is a miracle drink. I do remember seeing an article mentioning that drinking too much tea can cause some problems like bladder cancer. That was the only article I ever found that said that people should be careful about drinking tea. I suppose, like the old saying goes, "too much of anything is a bad thing."

Read up on green tea and try out some of the recipes. Tea is now one of my three favorite beverages. Water is number one, always has been, and now green tea is my second choice of beverages. And er, diet soda is my third favorite drink. Alright, I'm not perfect.

Start boiling that water and drink up.
